"Hunters will appreciate the 165,000 acres of contiguous hunting terrain."

The Pitchfork Ranch 's hunting program began September 1, 1998. The ranch offers pasture leases and guided hunts for whitetail deer, mule deer, quail, dove, turkey, wild hogs, and varmints. Hunters will appreciate the 165,000 acres (250+ square miles) of contiguous hunting terrain. This terrain varies from relatively flat mesquite pasture to scrub oak thickets to rugged canyon and cedar country.

The ranch has implemented a game management program to complement its hunting program. The overall condition of all game animals is strictly monitored. Game harvests are also strictly regulated.

The ranch holds good numbers of mature whitetail deer. Several bucks scoring above 150" are taken each season. There are also a few mule deer on the ranch. These deer are primarily located in the canyon and cedar country on the southwest portion of the ranch. Lodging and meals are provided. All hunts are fully guided and are generally spot and stalk.

Bird hunters see lots of quail and dove action. This area is known for its outstanding Bobwhite population.  These birds have little or no hunting pressure. Each group of hunters and their guide will have exclusive hunting access on sections of the ranch varying from 3,000 to 5,000 acres typically.  Several hunting packages are available including season leases.   Hunt behind our string of dogs or bring yours. All hunts require a guide.

Large flocks of Rio Grande turkeys roam the ranch. Turkey hunting is allowed during both the fall and spring seasons. Our turkey have had no hunting pressure. All hunts require a guide.

The ranch also has large populations of feral hogs and varmints. The hogs have strong genetic ties to the Russian boar and can be found just about anywhere on the ranch. Coyotes, bobcats, and other varmints are present in good numbers throughout the area. All hunts require a guide.
